Temperature variations in the high-latitude troposphere and stratosphere correlated with proton events in winter 1988 - 1992 periods
Creators
Description
Dependence of temperature profile on incoming protons is studied on the basis of aerological data obtained at six high-latitude stations in Arctic region western sector during proton events for winters in 1988 - 1992 using method of epoch overlapping. Conclusion is made that in the polar regions temperature variations in the troposphere/stratosphere linked with proton events are determined by a phase of quasi-two-year oscillation of stratospheric wind in the equator. 5 refs., 1 fig., 2 tabs
