Description

Recently measured Q-values for α-decays, β+/EC decays and β-delayed proton decays in the tin region are used to link known mass-excess values to new ones close to the proton drip line, for elements ranging from cadmium to cesium. The strength of the Z = 50 proton shell is derived from experimental data in a model-independent way. The new measurements are included in a discussion of the systematic behaviour in this region of mass-excess values and their differences, and in an assessment of semi-empirical mass formulae.
