Direct measurement of aerosol shape factors
Description
The dynamic shape factor whereas the coagulation shape factor is an average over the total examined size range. The experiments have shown that the results of experiments with a certain aerosol system cannot be transferred to other aerosol systems without further consideration. The outer shape of particles of a certain size depends on the specific properties of the material as well as on the experimental conditions during the aerosol generation. For both aerosol systems examined the mean dynamic shape factor, averaged over the total examined size range, agrees roughly with the coagulation shape factor. Der dynamische Formfaktor wurde fuer verschiedene Groessenfraktionen getrennt bestimmt, waehrend der Koagulationsformfaktor einen Mittelwert ueber das gesamte untersuchte Groessenspektrum darstellt. Die Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass Ergebnisse eines bestimmten Aerosolsystems nicht ohne weiteres auf andere Aerosolsysteme uebertragen werden koennen. Die aeussere Form von Partikeln bestimmter Groesse haengt sowohl von stoffspezifischen Eigenschaften als auch von den Versuchsbedingungen bei der Aerosolerzeugung ab. Der ueber das gesamte untersuchte Groessenspektrum gemittelte dynamische Formfaktor stimmt bei beiden untersuchten Aerosolsystemen grob mit dem Koagulationsformfaktor ueberein.
