Comparison of two configurations of Cu+ ion laser

Description
Here we compare the characteristics of two configurations for electrical discharge of hollow cathodes -the rectangular and cylindrical configurations-used as excitation media for a Cu+ ion laser. It was chosen for both configurations the same discharge volume to discharge active area ratio. The cylindrical configuration was found to be more efficient than the rectangular one for the generation of 780.8 nm laser radiation. (Author). 6 refs, 5 figs, 1 tab
