Results of the radiotherapy in teratocarcinoma in comparison to chemotherapy

In 41 patients with teratoma tests (period of observation 1.1.1970 - 31.12.1979) - 3 patients with mature/immature teratom, 19 with teratocarcinoma and 19 with embryonal cell carcinoma - a radiotherapy of the lymphatic flow-off area of the testis with 50 Gy was conducted after preceding radical (inguinal) orchiectomy and partly retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy (25 patients). It was obtained a five-year survival of 49% in all clinical stages together. In 31 patients with teratoma testes (period of observation 1.1.1980 - 30.9.1984) - 2 patients with mature/immature teratom, 19 with teratocarcinoma and 10 with embryonal cell carcinoma - a chemotherapy mostly following the ''Einhorn''-scheme was conducted after preceding radical (inguinal) orchiectomy and partly retroperitoneal lyumphadenetomy (21 patients). It was obtined a five-year survival of 81% in all clinical stages together. The five-year survival data of patients with progressed teratoma tests (clinical stages II and III) are 34% for the radiotherapy and 73% for the chemotherapy. In addition to the radical (inguinal) orchiectomy the present curative treatment of teratoma testes contains in progressed clinical stages chemotherapy and retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy. In special cases the palliative and also the adjuvant radiotherapy is relevant. (orig.)

Bei 41 Patienten mit Hodenteratomen (Beobachtungszeitraum 1.1.1970 - 31.12.1979) - 3 Patienten mit reifem/unreifem Teratom, 19 mit Teratokarzinom und 19 mit embryonalem Karzinom - wurde nach vorangegangener Semikastration und zum Teil radikaler Lymphadenektomie (25 Patienten) eine Strahlentherapie der Lymphabflussgebiete des Hodens mit 50 Gy durchgefuehrt. Es wurde eine 5-Jahres-Ueberlebensrate von 49% in allen Erkrankungsstadien zusammen erreicht. Bei 31 Patienten mit Hodenteratomen (Beobachtungszeitraum 1.1.1980 - 30.9.1984) - 2 Patienten mit reifem/unreifem Teratom, 19 mit Teratokarzinom und 10 mit embryonalem Karzinom - wurde nach vorangegangnger Semikastration und bei zum Teil radikaler Lymphadenektomie (21 Patienten) eine Chemotherapie meist nach dem Einhorn-Schema durchgefuehrt. Es wurde eine 5-Jahres-Ueberlebensrate von 81% in allen Erkrankungsstadien zusammen erreicht. Die 5-Jahres-Ueberlebensrate fuer fortgeschrittene Hodenteratom-Patienten (Stadium II und III) lauten fuer die Strahlentherapie 34%, fuer die Chemotherapie 73%. Das gegenwaertige kurative Therapiekonzept bei Hodenteratomen besteht in der Semikastration, bei fortgeschrittenen Stadien zusaetzlich in Chemotherapie und radikaler Lymphadenektomie. In bestimmten Faellen sind die palliative und auch adjuvante Strahlentherapie von Bedeutung. (orig.)Additional details
