Vacuum energy for a non-critical closed string compactified on the torus
Description
The one-loop vacuum energy of a free D-dimensional non-critical bosonic string compactified on various tori is calculated. Modular invariance of the one-loop vacuum energy is shown for any D. For a one-dimensional torus, the Hagedorn temperature is found. (orig.)
