Description

The effect of UV light on TL properties of ceramic sintered BeO discs (Thermalox 995) and the possibility of re-estimating a radiation dose in BeO by UV light have been studied. Such a possibility is based on the transfer of charge carriers from some high temperature traps into lower ones. In our measuring conditions it was found that BeO which had been annealed at higher temperature (about 8000C) to empty all traps was not sensitive to UV light. The UV induced TL response as a function of previous dose, of UV exposure time and a number of exposure readout cycles has been measured and the necessity of temperature annealing has been investigated.
