Electron solvation in alcohol-alkane mixtures
Description
The effect of alcohol concentration on the conductivities of solutions of n-propanol in c-hexane and iso-octane and of t-butanol in c-hexane following electron pulse irradiation, are quantitatively consistent with the existence of an equilibrium between mobile electrons in the hydrocarbon and electrons solvated by alcohol dimers. For methanol solutions in iso-octane the observations suggest electron solvation by a larger association of alcohol molecules (ca.6). (Auth.)
