TOPAS 2 - a high-resolution tagging system at the Bonn SAPHIR detector
Description
For the SAPHIR-arrangement in Bonn a high resolving tagging system has been developed achieving an energy resolution of 2 MeV, covering the range of (0.94-0.34) E0 photon energy (1.0 GeV < E0 < 3.5 GeV). The system consists of 14 scintillation counters for accurate timing and two MWPC with 700 wires. Preparing measurements with a similar device were made testing gases as ArCO2, ArCH4 and ArC2H6 in concern of performance, clustersize and coincidence width. (orig.)
