Identification of requirements for a long-term stability of casks
Description
The corrosion resistance of copper, titanium and nickel alloys as storage casks for long-term radioactive waste repositories (disposal sites) was assessed in relation to the ground water composition. Parameters which have a major impact on the formation of compact oxidic films are given. A programme for future activities is proposed to examine and solve problems of the corrosion resistance of the materials in question. (author)
