Metasediments of the Western Carpathians - geochemical criteria for distinguishing different protoliths and sedimentation environments

Description
In this work, the authors will try to prove, based on the generally accepted laws of distribution of chemical elements, that metasediments have many inherited geochemical characteristics, the decryption of which provides very valuable information about their genesis. Reconstruction of the protolith of metamorphic rocks is a basic condition for paleoreconstruction of crystalline complexes. Relevant data on the prevalence of metamorphites are necessary for correlations of rock complexes (units, lithologies) that have surpassed the common geological history. In addition to the protolith, information on the conditions that prevailed in the source area and during the transport of the protolith, information on the sedimentation conditions and the geotectonic position of the pool in which they sedimented are also of great importance.
