Microstructural evolution in zirconium based alloys
Description
Zirconium based alloy components form the major part of the in-core material in heavy water and water cooled nuclear reactors. The performance of these components is very critical for a safe and economically viable operation of the reactors. The behaviour of the components is governed mainly by microstructures evolved during thermo-mechanical processing of the components. Therefore, understanding of the phase transformation during different stages of fabrication is important for tailoring the microstructure to obtain best combination of properties
