Description
The radiotherapeutical 153Sm-ethylene diamine tetra methylene phosphonic acid (153Sm-EDTMP) is considered a radio-pharmaceutical compound of choice in the treatment of pain dissemination of bone metastatic tumor. 153Sm was obtained by neutron irradiation of natural Sm2O3 targets with a specific activity 740 - 1850 MBq/mg. Labelling process of EDTMP with Sm-153 was carried out at ph 7.5 - 8 and heating at 70 degree C for 30min. The radiochemical purity was ascertained by paper chromatography and in-vitro stability was studied. The product was found stable for over 24h with high radiochemical yield more than 97%. The biodistribution results in male Albino Swiss mice showed good bone uptake and prolonged retention, with adequately rapid clearance from blood and no retention in any non-target
