Intervention criteria in a nuclear or radiation emergency
Description
In September 1993, the IAEA convened a Technical Committee Meeting on intervention and accidents. This technical committee modified the text and values from member states and international organizations, and combined them with the draft revision of Safety Series No. 72. This Safety Guide is the result of that process and represents an international understanding on the principles for intervention and numerical values for generic intervention levels. The recommendations of the present Safety Guide are the basis for the International Basic Safety Standards for Protection against Ionizing Radiations and for the Safety of Radiation Sources of the FAO, the IAEA, the International Labour Organisations, the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Pan American Health Organization and the WHO.
