Differential cross section from quantal solutions for excitation of H into 2p state in H+-H collisions
Description
The calculation of the differential cross section is reported for excitation of the 2p state of H in H+-H collisions at an energy of 205 eV(CM). The computational method consists in solving, using the Numerov algorithm the set of quantal two-state close-coupled equations relative to the 2p sigma u and 4p pi u molecular states of H2+ in the perturbed stationary state approximation (Mott 1931). Comparison is made with the experimental data of Houver et al (1974) together with results of the common trajectory method of Gaussorgues et al (1974). The efficiency of the latter method is confirmed.
