  • 1. Centre of Advanced Study in Botany, Banaras Hindu Univ., Varanasi (India)

Description

Dry seeds of Physalis peruviana (n=24) were irradiated with different doses of gamma-rays. The M1 plants were grown to maturity and their seeds collected and sown separately for M2 generation. Mutants were isolated from M2 seedlings and plants. Mutant characters obtained were virido-albino chlorophyllous, high yielding, small leaf and fruit, semi-sterile and curly leaf type etc. The high yielding and small leaf and fruit mutants bred true in M3 and M4 generation reproducing the characters of the M2 generation.
