The application of natural radioactive tracers: Pt. 6

  • 1. Third Institute of Occanography, SOA (China)

Description

210Pb, 226Ra and total β radioactive tracers were used to study the effect of silt from the Jiulong River on the channel in west Xiamen Harbour. It is understood that most of the silt from the Jiulong River moves to the outer sea along the main current direction, and only some of the silt enter into the west Xiamen Harbour. The great part of the silt entering into west Xiamen Harbour stops in the west section of the west Xianmen Harbour. This has affected the channel of the west section, but not the channel of the east section. These results agreed with those obtained by other methods (i.e. methods of geology ect.)
