Iopamidol (Solutrast) in excretion urography

Results show Iopamidol to be a contrast medium which is very suitable for urography. Both a convincingly good nephrographic effect and a good filling condition as well as a good radiodensity in the efferent urinary passages were observed in the great majority of examinations. All ureterolith patients covered by this study tolerated the nonionic contrast medium without any colics being triggered during examination. The brief duration of contrast medium application and the good diagnostic usefulness of the two standard radiographs result in an unburdening of both the examining doctor and the patient to be examined. Abstract (German)

Ziel der vorliegenden klinischen Studie war es, einen Erfahrungsbericht ueber die diagnostischen Eigenschaften des seit Oktober 1983 fuer die Urographie zugelassenen Iopamidols zu erstellen. Die Ergebnisse weisen das Iopamidol als ein sehr geeignetes Kontrastmittel fuer die Urographie aus. In der ueberwiegenden Mehrzahl der Untersuchungen wurde sowohl ein ueberzeugend guter nephrographischer Effekt als auch ein guter Fuellungszustand und eine gute Kontrastdichte der ableitenden Harnwege beobachtet. Saemtliche Patienten der Studie mit Harnleiterkonkrementen tolerierten das nichtionische Kontrastmittel, ohne dass dadurch Koliken waehrend der Untersuchungen ausgeloest wurden. Stoerungen des Allgemeinbefindens durch allergieaehnliche Nebenwirkungen traten nicht auf. Die kurze Dauer der Kontrastmittelapplikation und die gute diagnostische Verwertbarkeit der zwei Standardaufnahmen ergeben fuer den zu untersuchenden Patienten und fuer den Untersucher gleichermassen eine Entlastung.
