Updating of the limit values of tolerance and action in the quality control of the AC Camargo Cancer Center linear accelerators

  • 1. AC Camargo Cancer Center, São Paulo, SP (Brazil)

Description

The realization of daily quality assurance procedures is fundamental to assure the correct delivered treatment to the patient, as recommended by the AAPM. In this study we evaluated the tolerance limits used in our department at the AC Camargo Cancer Center by analyzing the data over a year period from the Sun Nuclear Daily QA 3 software for three Linacs: the CLINAC 6EX, CLINAC 2100 and CLINAC IX. When analyzing the six beam parameters on the software, it was observed that it is possible to reduce the tolerance limit values. As an example, is presented a table from the Linac CLINAC IX with all its energies and analyzed data. With the collected and analyzed data we might conclude that the range of possible values for the divergence of the measures on QA daily tests was high and an update can be made to decrease it and make it more rigid.
