Sorption selectivity of alkali metal ions in polymer inclusion ion exchange membranes

  • 1. Radiochemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Sorption selectivity of different alkali metal ions in polymer inclusion cation exchange membranes has been studied. The concentration of the metal ions were measured using neutron activation analysis. The results show the selectivity of polymer inclusion membranes for metal ions in the order Na+< K+<Rb+<Cs+. The trend have been explained in terms of the radius of the hydrated metal ion. (author)
