Laser induced photonuclear and fusion-reactions
Description
The energy release from the fusion-fission pellets is demonstrated. It is shown that the coupling of the fusion-fission process is extremely efficient provided one can obtain the proper compression heating. The pellet of an outer core of (Li6D-Li6T) with an inner core of U238 is shown to be an efficient and practical fuel and can be ignited by the present generation of lasers to produce thermonuclear burn. The demonstration of the efficiency for photonuclear and photofission pellets is shown. However no suitable gamma ray source exists at present to initiate these processes. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Energiefreisetzung von Fusion-Fission-Pellets wird abgeschaetzt. Man kann zeigen, dass die Kopplung des Fusion-Fission-Prozesses sehr wirkungsvoll ist, vorausgesetzt, man erreicht die erforderliche Aufheizung durch Kompression. Es wird gezeigt, dass das Pellet in Form eines Li6D-Li6T-Mantels um einen U-283-Kern ein effizienter und praktischer Brennstoff ist, und dass dieses Pellet im Prinzip durch Laser der heutigen Generation zur Einleitung des thermonuklearen Brennens gezuendet werden kann. Ferner wird eine Abschaetzung der Wirksamkeit von photonuklearen und Photospaltungs-Pellets gebracht. Es gibt jedoch zur Zeit noch keine geeignete γ-Quelle zur Einleitung dieser Prozesse.
