Description
The magnetic properties of CePdAl and PrPdAl with the hexagonal ZrNiAl -type crystal structure were investigated by measurements of the electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat. The longitudinal magnetoresistance in CePdAl single crystals exhibits a large magnetic anisotropy. PrPdAl orders at 4.2 K and about 1.5 K successively. The obtained results were discussed in terms of the geometrical frustration, crystalline electric field effect and/or Kondo screening effect. (author)
