Safety considerations in the instrumentation and control system solution of Olkiluoto 3
Description
A nuclear power plant has special protection and back-up systems, which are designed to keep the plant in a safe state. The safety systems are divided into different groups according to their safety importance and their role in the functional safety design of the plant. Olkiluoto 3 has a functional and hierarchical design structure of instrumentation and control (I and C) systems, which helps the designer, operator as well as licensing authority to understand the safety importance of the complicated systems and the safety importance of each part of the systems (orig.)
