Absorption of gravitational energy by a viscous compressible fluid in a curved spacetime

Description
We derive the equations of motion for a viscous compressible fluid moving in a curved spacetime. The response of the fluid to an incident gravitational wave propagating in this spacetime is determined by solving the fluid equations. We find that the response can be decomposed with a sound wave and a shear wave whose damping heats a surface layer
