Description
During the past decade, many countries have introduced programmes to deal with the ageing of nuclear equipment. The first comprehensive effort by EPRI to develop a set of definitions for commonly used terms in this field in 1992 has been endorsed in the USA, but does not completely reflect the situations encountered elsewhere. An awareness of commonalities and differences in terminology and of how different programmatic and regulatory approaches influence terminology can help avoid misunderstandings. (Author)
