Description
We have obtained complete maps at 1' spacing of the molecular cloud associated with the multiple infrared source GL 437. The 12CO and 13CO data, obtained with the FCRAO 14 m antenna, indicate that the cloud density varies as r-3, r being the distance from the IR cluster. The extent of the cloud, using a distance of 2 kpc derived from a variety of techniques, is 5 pc, and the total mass is approx.1500 M/sub sun/. The 13CO spectra do not show evidence for shifts in the line center velocity that would be expected if there were a significant rotational component of the velocity field of the cloud (as suggested by Schneps et al.)= Detailed mapping of the 12CO around the IR cluster shows that there is signficant line broadening within approx.2 pc of the infrared emission peak . Within this region emission is detectable over a approx.100 km s-1 interval compared to approx.5 km s-1 for the bulk of the cloud. The maxima of the red- and blueshifted line wings are spatially separated by approx.0.7 pc along a N-S axis: this structure suggests a bipolar outflow powered by the stars producing the IR emission. The 12CO data also reveal a second peak 7' (4 pc) north having half the intensity of the emission centered on the previously studied IR source, and which may be associated with a hitheto unobserved IR source
