Technique for rapid X-ray fluorescence determination of rock-forming elements

Description
Technique for determination accurate to 5-15 rel. % accuracy of main rock-forming elements in rocks without preliminary homogenization of samples is developed. Application of the simplest method for sample preparation - powder sample pressing - permits to attain high rapidity. Correction for the absorption and piecewise regression are applied for correction of matrix effects. The latter decreases influence of variations of mineralogical composition. The technique is used in geochemical prospecting for analysis of large masses of geochemical samples similar by their mineralogy. The program realized in the BASIC language exercises data control and acquisition
