The Irradiation Behaviour of HTR Fuel Compacts
Description
The irradiation induced property changes of HTR fuel compacts are summarised. The mechanical properties, internal stress patterns and dimensional changes can be shown to be related to structural features associated with the volume loading of coated particles, the quantity of binder used in the graphite matrix and the individual dimensional changes of these component parts. The irradiation performance of pressed overcoated cylindrical compacts easily meets the requirements for multihole block low enriched high temperature power reactor designs. (author)
