The approach to sphericity: An (n,n'γ) study of /sup 202,204/Hg
Creators

Description
The authors have studied /sup 202,204/Hg, the heaviest of the stable mercury isotopes, by the (n,n'γ) reaction on isotopically enriched samples. Gamma-ray excitation functions and angular distribution measurements have enabled the authors to confirm previously placed energy levels as well as to clarify several spin assignments. The results of this work, along with those from complementary studies, provide a detailed picture of the changes taking place with the approach of double shell closure
