Ion exchange separation of uranium from thorium in nitric acid medium
- 1. Radiochemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Separation of uranium from thorium was carried out by cation exchangers, DOWEX 50W x 4 as well as DOWEX 50W x 8, in nitric acid medium. While uranium elution was possible at 1 M HNO3, Th could be eluted out only at higher (>6 M) concentration of nitric acid. A solution comprising 350 mg/L U and 380 mg/L Th was used as the feed and the D.F. value for U in the product was > 1000. (author)
