Description
Aspects of an occupational 241Am incorporation event happened in a radioactive waste treatment and storage facility, are presented. Three workers inhaled 241Am radionuclide in kBq range of activity causing accident level of committed effective dose. The personal incorporations were assessed by whole body counting and urine analysis. Intensive survey was performed to determine the physical and chemical form of the contaminant and these results were utilized in planning the decorporation procedure and in the decontamination of the laboratory and other devices.
