Calculation of the fissile mass of a graphite moderated critical assembly using 93% enriched uranium
Description
The critical mass of uranium has been calculated for a graphite moderated set fueled with 93% enriched uranium to be mounted on the Instituto de Energia Atomica split table Zero Power Reactor. The core composition was optimized to permit the maximum number of configurations to be studied. Analysis of three core compositions shows that 8 Kg of uranium enriched to 93% - U-235 (by weight) and 100 Kg of thorium would be sufficient for criticality experiments

Determinou-se a massa critica de uranio de um conjunto critico moderado por grafita e alimentado com uranio enriquecido em 93% para ser montado no Reator de Potencia Zero do Instituto de Energia Atomica. A composicao do caroco do reactor foi otimizada paa permitir o estudo de um numero maximo de configuracoes. A analise de tres composicoes do caroco mostrou que 8 Kg de uranio enriquecido com 93% de U-235 (em massa) e 100 Kg de torio sao suficientes para experiencias de criticalidadeFiles
