Comments on the scenarios of the RTE 2017 forecast statement

Description

The author comments and discusses three issues which are particularly important for the future of the French electric power system: the trajectories of power consumption, of greenhouse gas emissions by the power system, and cross-border electric power exchanges. Thus, he first addresses a prospective view of electricity consumption by discussing trajectories of electric power consumption presented by RTE, the effect of consumption in the Ohm scenario, and the four defined scenarios by 2025. Then, he addresses greenhouse gas emissions, and more precisely the calculation method for greenhouse gas emissions by the electric power system, the level of emissions in 2016, the CO2 emissions in the different variants of scenarios, and emissions calculated with life cycle indicators. In the last part, he addresses the issue of electric power exports
