Quality assurance of image guided radiotherapy (lGRT)

  • 1. Department of Medical Physics, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (India)

Description

Last decade witnessed technological advancement in the verification and delivery of high precision 3D conformal radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, SRS and SBRT. Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) gained popularity utilizing various imaging techniques and devices which are being integrated with the treatment machine to acquire the images prior or during the treatment fraction. IGRT enhanced setup accuracy and addressed inter and intra fraction motion for improving overall accuracy in the delivery of radiation. Commercial teletherapy machines are now capable to acquire planer and CT images. The utilization of newer technology required quality assurance (QA) program to maintain and monitor system performance. In recent year AAPM have published task group TG-179, TG 148 and TG-142 reports which describes the QA of IGRT
