Description
This PowerPoint slide show included 15 slides that focused on Saud's survival strategy. The threats to the House of Saud are both internal, by Islamic fundamentalists, and external, by neighbours such as Iraq and Iran. The Kingdom is also experiencing financial difficulty with large a government debt, a net-foreign debtor, and a collapse in the standard of living. A graph depicting Saudi per capital GDP shows a sharp decline in the early 1980s from which there has been no rebound. A similar graphs shows a sharp decline in Saudi oil export revenues since the early 1980s. Saudi's oil share of the primary energy market showed a slump in the early 1980s but has since bounced back. Forecasts for world oil demand for 2020 were provided. The triple threat to the demand for OPEC oil is environmental, strategic and technological. 4 tabs., 4 figs
