Production of 186 Re for endovascular brachytherapy

Description

Production of radioactive rhenium isotope (186 Rhenium) has been studied and it designed to use for endovascular brachytherapy. A production method by the 185 Rhenium(n, γ) 186 Rhenium reaction has been established in the Research Reactor and the Iranian Cath. System, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. After irradiation, the samples were prepared for beta and gamma spectroscopy. We concluded that 186 Rhenium is easy to prepare by natural rhenium and economical compare to irradiate enriched 186 Rhenium
