The Field- and Zero-Field-Blocked transverse susceptibilities for high-density recording media

Description

This paper discusses a new method for measuring the transverse susceptibility of thin film magnetic recording media, which uses a DC probe field. The proposed method allows the measurement of modern hard-disk media, unlike the previously reported methods. Two components of the DC transverse susceptibility are defined, denoted by Zero-Field-Blocked and Field-Blocked, that allow a straight-forward interpretation of the thermal relaxation effects on the transverse susceptibility
