Crystalline matrices with pyrochlore structure for immobilization of high level waste
Description
Mineral-like ceramic matrices, in particular complex oxides with the structure of pyrochlore mineral, is of interest for the immobilization of high-level radioactive wastes. Laminated and skeleton structure is characteristic of such matrices. Weak bonds between layers caused by Van Der Waals forces allow these structures to adapt themselves to the introduction of one-three charge cations due to interlayer expansion, construction, and disorientation
