Description
Thyroid uptake studies are essential for evaluating the functional status of the thyroid gland by measuring Iodine-131 uptake. Traditionally, a thyroid uptake probe has been used for this assessment. However, advancements in gamma camera technology present alternative methods. This study compares the effectiveness of gamma cameras against traditional probe-based measurements. To quantitatively compare thyroid uptake values obtained using a thyroid uptake probe and gamma camera techniques. Gamma camera methods are viable alternatives to probe-based measurements for thyroid uptake assessment. Despite a slightly higher mean difference with the vendor-2 gamma camera, both methods showed statistically insignificant differences, indicating that gamma cameras can reliably evaluate thyroid function, especially when dedicated probes are unavailable in resource limited setting
