All zirconium tubes to be replaced at Pickering units 1 and 2

Description
Necessity of complete replacement of zirconium fuel channels at the Pickering-1 and Pickering-2 reactors near Toronto is substantiated. It is concluded that the fuel channel failure resulted from enhanced hydrogenation and hydride swellings due to the contact, between a calender tube an a fuel channel. It is noted that after fuel channel replacement the Pickering NPP will have two reactors renewed to a considerable degree
