Search for second generation leptoquarks at CDF

Description

We present the results of a search for second generation leptoquarks S2 in p bar p collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. This search is based on 19.3 pb- of data collected during the 1992--93 CDF run. We have searched for evidence of leptoquark pairs assuming that ea ampersand leptoquark decays to a muon+quark with a branching ratios. Two leptoquark candidate events were found with a background of 1.35±0.50. We obtained-upper limits on the production cross-section times branching ratio as a function of leptoquark mass. For pair production of second generation leptoquarks, we excluded MS2 < 133. GeV/c2 for β = 100% and MS2 < 98 GeV/c2 for β = 50% at 95% CL
