Recommendation on standardization of radionuclide imaging (the 2nd revision, 1987), (1)

Description

The Subcommittee for Standardization of Radionuclide Imaging, Medical and Pharmaceutical Committee of Japan Radioisotope Association fist published the 'recommendation of standardization of radionuclide imaging' in 1979 and revised it in 1984. The present report outlines the second revision of the standards for radionuclide imaging filed in 1987. Various amendments to existing standards for radionuclide imaging are recommended. Standards for cerebral blood flow imaging, thyroid radioisotope angiography, parathyroid imaging, adrenal marrow imaging, leukocyte imaging, thrombocyte imaging and Furosemide-loaded kidney dynamic imaging are newly added. The recommendation covers photosensitive material, counting method, concentration in film, image size and some others for static imaging; photosensitive material and imaging conditions for dynamic imaging; photosensitive material, radioisotope injection method and imaging conditions for radioisotope angiography; data collection (picture element size, rotation step and range for data collection and counting) and reconstruction for SPECT; and requirements for collimater. The report also outlines recommended protocols for various imaging techniques, including those for brain, cerebral blood flow, thyroid gland, myocardium, acute myocardial infarction (application of 99mTc pyrophosphoric acid), etc. (Nogami, K.)
