Generalized two-dimensional Abelian gauge theories and confinement

Description
The Abelian generalization of QED2 is considered to include SU(M) flavour and ''diagonal'' SU(N) colour. The operator solutions and confinement aspects of these models are discussed in detail for the case of massless and massive fermions. For a non-vanishing fermion mass one finds confinement of ''quarks'' except for some special ''theta-worlds''. (Auth.)
