Leak detection in temporary radiological containment devices using ultrasound

  • 1. Tennessee Valley Authority, Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (United States)

Description

In this paper a method is proposed for testing the integrity of seams and other heat-sealed portions of temporary radiological containments (glove bags). The method includes the use of an ultrasonic tone generator and sound receiver. Preliminary results using this method indicate a significant time and personnel exposure savings over more conventional containment techniques
