Reconstruction of the WWR-S type research reactor at Budapest

  • 1. Kozponti Fizikai Kutato Intezet, Budapest (Hungary)

Description

After eight years operation the Budapest 2 MW WWR-S type reactor was reconstructed in 1967. The justification and the purposes of the reconstruction are given. The parameters of the operating core-configuration developed at the critical assembly ZR-3 are discussed. The technical-engineering works accomplished during the reconstruction are dealt with in detail. Physical and engineering characteristics of the new 3.2 MW WWR-SM reactor are given. Some results of the measurements (neutron fluxes and dosimetrical parameters) at the reconstructed reactor are discussed. Some tables with detailed parameters of the reactor and figures about some experimental systems are given in appendix. (B.I.)
