Fissile elements monitoring system with coincidence counting for waste package characterization

Description
Fissile elements monitoring system in containers used on transport of radioactive wastes from the Karlsruhe reprocessing plant is described. Basic possibilities of the system, neutron detectors and procedure for data processing are briefly considered. As it is confirmed during tests of the monitoring system neutron detection is possible in conditions of γ-radiation field with the dose rate to 1 Sv/h resulting in detection of effective plutonium (Pu-eff) with a sensitivity of 10 mg

Описана система мониторинга делящихся материалов в контейнерах, используемая при транспортировке ядерных отходов с предприятия по переработке отходов в Карлсруэ. Кратко рассмотрены основные возможности системы, нейтронные детекторы и способ обработки данных. При испытаниях системы мониторинга было подтверждено, что регистрация нейтронов возможна в условиях поля γ-излучения с мощностью дозы до 1 Зв/ч, что обеспечивает обнаружение эффективному плутония (Pu-eff) с чувствительностью 10 мгAdditional details
