Axisymmetric out flow of dusty gas from a comet nucleus

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

The outflow of water vapour with a dust impurity from the comet nucleus with regard to solar radiation transport is considered. The axisymmetric character of substance evaporation from the nucleus surface is considered. In this case the Mach number on the nucleus surface is determined by the condition of continuous transition through the sound velocity. The presence of dust in the comet atmosphere is shown to lead to the axial symmetry of gas flow less definitely expressed in comparison with the case of the dust-free atmosphere. Axisymmetric motion of dust remains to large distances from the nucleus. Dust affects considerably the Mach number and the dynamic pressure of gas and changes insignificantly its temperature. Taking into account the multiple scattering decreases dust influence
