Investigation of interaction of sodium triphosphate with neodymium and erbium chlorides in aqueous solutions at 0 deg C

  • 1. RAN, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

Regions of existence of low-soluble normal salts Nd5P3)O10·22H2O, Er5(P3O10)·20H2O and binary sodium-containing triphosphates NaLn3(P3O10)2·12H2O were ascertained, when studying the systems by the solubility (residual concentrations) method. High-soluble Na2NdP3O10·5H2O was synthesized by salting out. Dehydration and thermal decomposition of neodymium and erbium triphosphates proceed in several stages accompanied by changes in the degree of phosphate anions concentration, depending on temperature, and are completed (at ∼1000 deg C) by the formation of thermally stable forms: LnPO4 orthophosphate, Ln(PO3)3 polyphosphate and Na3PO4 sodium polyphosphate melt. 10 refs., 2 figs.,
