Time-resolved measurement of an output beam's intensity

Description

The device is designed to generate time-resolved measurements of the intensity of an output charged beam for values up to 107 sec-1 and to time-lock the data acquisition system to the accelerator discharge. The input pulses are counted by two 16-bit counters operating alternatively for controlled intervals (from 4 μsec to 4 msec) and the number of counts is recorder in a 1 K x 16 memory. Intensity harmonics of up to 100 kHz can be analyzed. The data acquisition system is time-locked to the discharge of particles from the accelerator ring using a 1 K x 4 RAM whose address register is switched at a frequency of ∼250 Hz, thus the output signals can be recorded for 4 sec after the arrival of the sync pulse with a time resolution of ∼4 msec
