Preliminary development of a severe accident support system
- 1. China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute, Shenzhen (China)
Description
The safety of nuclear power plant (NPP) is enhancing along with the application of new research and development of technology, but Fukushima accident exposed some shortages in plant severe accident response capability. Thus, a support system named SADIRS is being developed to response nuclear severe accident like Fukushima. This system consists of three major modules: 1) accident diagnosis subsystem; 2) accident simulation subsystem and 3) accident response subsystem. This system can be used to collect necessary information of nuclear power plant in real time and determine the initial event of accident, then to simulate and regulate the accident process though updated information from the NPP and also to predict the development of the accident. After that, this system which is based on electronic Severe Accident Management Guideline (SAMG) and combined with equipment accessibility and survivability is used to manage NPP severe accident.
